The law industry’s two most important publishers of legal rankings have confirmed the leading status of national law firm Clarke Willmott LLP in a raft of practice areas around the country.
The 2013 edition of Chambers UK has just been published and it gives the firm top rankings in ten different teams across three offices.
In Bristol, our family and real estate practices are recognised as band-1 – the top ranking – while five practices based in the Taunton office are similarly recognised, including the agricultural and rural affairs team, the private client practice and the banking and finance practice.
Stephen Rosser, Chief Executive, said: “The latest Chambers rankings demonstrate the excellence to be found across the firm. They also support the latest analysis of Legal 500, which puts the firm on a similarly strong footing. Added to this, we have developing practices across the country that are moving towards top-tier status that should be recognised in future years.”
Chambers’ recognition closely matches Legal 500’s latest assessment, which puts the firm in the top tier many times over.
Legal 500 rightly describes Clarke Willmott as a national firm with a regional presence and recognises that the firm has “an impressive client base of private businesses, public sector organisations and high-net-worth individuals,” supported by many strong teams across the UK.
In the South West, it puts the firm in the top tier for private client work in agriculture and estates, where its highly acclaimed team acts for The Crown Estate, the NFU and Clydesdale Bank.
And our private client work in family law is also recognised as top-tier by Legal 500, with Gareth Schofield heading up the firm’s team, which acts for professionals of all types in pre-nuptial financial planning, post-nuptial agreements and divorce settlements.
In Bristol, the firm’s planning team is lauded as having “real strength in depth”. The team advised on the Plymstock Quarry Plymouth Urban Extension project, among other recent work, and partners Neil Baker and Chris Charlton are described as having “good all-round expertise on planning matters.”
In the area of property litigation Clarke Willmott is also recognised as among the very best by Legal 500, with a “very responsive and approachable” team that acts for clients including Bank of Ireland and Burger King. Partner Chris Taylor leads the team and fellow partner Bonnie Martin is described as “a legend in South West property matters.”
Other teams recognised as outstanding by Legal 500 include Southampton’s “very outcome-focused” sports-law team, which “understands how the sports industry works and provides a responsive and cost-effective service.” The team recently advised Bristol City FC on its proposed development of a 30,000-seat stadium.
Clarke Willmott’s recent large scale investment programme in its IT systems is also recognised as the action of a firm investing for tomorrow.
