How we work
At Clarke Willmott, hybrid working is here to stay. When you join us, you’ll be empowered to work where you do your best work, balancing your individual needs with the need for us to engage as teams and deliver excellent client service.
Most of our people choose a mix of working from home and spending time at our offices. You’ll work with your own preferences, your team and your clients to find the mix that is best for you. Some of our roles do require you to be in the office every day, for example this is likely to be the case if you are working in our Facilities team.
Why we believe hybrid working is important
We decided that hybrid working is important for us long-term after consulting with our people. Through a comprehensive survey, we learnt that of our staff:
- 79% who work from home mainly enjoy or really enjoy it
- 87% believe they are as effective or more effective now than pre-pandemic
- 83% would prefer to work in a hybrid way in the long term
- 52% would prefer to attend the office between one and three days per week
- 44% anticipate that when they do go to the office, it will be to meet and work with colleagues
In addition, we have seen consistency in the results achieved by teams across the firm. It’s clear to us that hybrid working is a success
We also believe that giving you a choice of where you work, allows us to build a more diverse and inclusive workforce. Everyone has their own requirements. Hybrid working reduces barriers and gives our people more freedom when it comes to balancing personal responsibilities and wellbeing with work.
Offices designed to support you
We recognise that not everyone enjoys working from home. You may prefer to do all your work from one of our offices and they remain a core part of our offering. Our goal is for them to be great places to be and we are working hard to ensure they are at the heart of our culture. Whether you want a space to work to work quietly, a space where you can collaborate with colleagues or a space where you can host clients, you will have access to everything you need.
We operate a desk booking policy and you’ll be able to select a desk in advance via an app. If your role requires you in to be in the office every day, you’ll be allocated a desk of your own. We understand the need for high quality office space to support the new way of working and have made changes to a number of our offices and continue to look at ways of improving our spaces, such as relocating to new office locations.

Staying connected with your colleagues and clients
When you are working from home, we want you to feel supported and connected to your colleagues and clients. We recognise that what you need to achieve this may be different to other people in your team. Your manager will initiate conversations so they can understand your needs and preferences.
Our employee wellbeing initiatives will help you stay connected from home and you’ll be invited to our virtual Town Hall sessions where you can meet the management team and ask any questions you choose – nothing is off limits. You’ll also be able to join our fortnightly CW Coffee Club where people from across the firm can meet virtually and get to know colleagues from other teams.
Our IT team works hard to ensure the technologies we use are up to date and that you will have everything you need to interact with your colleagues and clients remotely. In addition, our offices are set up to make your transition from working from home to the office easy – you’ll be able to take a video call wherever you are.
