From 2000 to 2010 Alastair ran his own two partner firm in Exeter specialising in family law. He joined Clarke Willmott for the second time in March 2010 having trained as a solicitor with the firm in the early 1990s
Alastair is chairman of the Somerset Committee of Resolution, formerly the Solicitors Family Law Association. Alastair is also a trained collaborative lawyer and is a member of the Somerset Collaborative Lawyers Group.
Alastair is accredited by Resolution as a specialist in dealing with complex financial settlements and he has over 20 years experience of dealing with such matters, including cases involving companies, partnership and in particular farm businesses.
Alastair is also a Resolution accredited specialist in dealing with the pension aspects of financial settlement.
Children matters. Alastair also has many years of experience in dealing with matters relating to children including residence and contact matters.
Collaborative law. Alastair is a trained collaborative lawyer and understands the stress that is caused by separation and is always sensitive to this in his work. He is convinced that for many couples the collaborative process is the way to achieve the best outcome for their family.
