Clarke Willmott receives praise from Chambers & Partners
Independent guide recognises expertise of serious injury and clinical negligence teams
The 2015 edition of Chambers & Partners has been published today, and the experience, expertise and dedication of the Serious Injury and Clinical Negligence teams at Clarke Willmott has been recognised with many solicitors achieving impressive rankings Chambers & Partners is a truly independent guide as to which lawyers are considered to be leaders in their field and is based upon evidence gathered from former and existing clients, other professionals who work with the firm and often legal opponents as well. For Bristol and the surrounding area, Clarke Willmott are in the very top tier for personal injury cases, the guide commenting that the firm is “highly experienced in managing serious and catastrophic injury cases, with a strong reputation for handling motorcycle accident related claims” and goes on to mention our considerable expertise in “amputation and brain injury claims”
Head of the Personal Injury Department, Martin Pettingell, is also ranked in the top band for lawyers in the area, and “is well regarded for his expertise in brain injury claims”.
Likewise, Serious Injury Partner, Lee Hart of the firm’s Taunton office also achieves the impressive top tier status for Somerset and the guide states that clients praise “his thoroughness and caring and supportive manner”
Continuing the theme of expertise in Serious Injury claims, Clarke Willmott expanded in 2014 by introducing a specialist team into its Birmingham office. The team was lead by the recruitment of Partner Philip Edwards. Phil has been noted in independent directories for several years, but the firm is delighted that Chambers & Partners have immediately recognized the service that his appointment brings to seriously injured people in the Midlands as Phil is one of only two lawyers to have been included in the prestigious band 1 for Personal Injury Claimant work for Birmingham and the surrounding area. This shows that Clarke Willmott have demonstrated that they are ahead of many other Midlands firms in the expertise and support they bring to seriously injured clients. The guide says of Phil that he “is highly regarded for his extensive experience in catastrophic injury matters, particularly those involving brain injury” and he is noted as being “very approachable and a very good communicator”
The plaudits continue for the Clinical Negligence team. In the South West the team is ranked very highly and quotes include: “They get very good results, tending to be pretty punchy in negotiations” and “They have an edge in terms of quality of work”
The expansion of the team is noted as Chambers & Partners mentions the recruitment of recognised practitioner Chris Thorne to the Taunton office and again ranks him in the distinguished band 1 for the region. In Bristol, Kerry Fifield is ranked individually very highly and it is stated that she handles the firm’s birth injury claims and “she is a calm and competent operator who deals with cases constructively” Clarke Willmott is delighted that the breadth of experience across the firm has been recognised, and that its long standing reputation for Serious Injury and Clinical Negligence claims in Bristol, Taunton and the South West is now being supplemented by having a highly regarded presence in the Midlands. However the most pleasing aspect of the results is the independent comments about the firm’s approach to clients. Everyone in the Serious Injury and Clinical Negligence teams knows that each client is an individual, who needs and deserves bespoke support and solutions, and to receive praise for being thorough, caring, supportive, approachable, good communicators, calm and constructive we hope says as much about us as does being recognized for our expertise.
