William is a Partner in the Bristol Commercial Property team specialising in property portfolio management. William’s expertise includes working with national retailers and property investors including Burger King, Extra Group of Motorway Service Stations and Las Iguanas restaurants.
William joined Clarke Willmott in 2001 after working at Eversheds in Bristol and previously at Taylor Garrett (now Taylor Wessing) in London. William is ranked in Chambers (2013) who comment that “he has a strong record in the retail and leisure sectors”.
William chairs the West of England Local Enterprise Partnership retail group and is also a member of the Bristol Broadmead Business Improvement District sub-committee which oversees the BID.
Heading up the property team from the Birmingham and Bristol offices on the acquisition of nine motorway service station sites and the subsequent funding of the deal in a multi million pound share purchase including attending a two & a half day completion meeting.
Providing strategic advice to a national retailer in connection with the insolvency of a number of its franchisees and assisting in restructuring the businesses.
Advising on the sale and purchase of 56 properties (including their businesses) from a national restaurant chain to two of its major franchisees including the grant of subleases to the franchisees and obtaining all necessary consents form the restaurant’s landlords.
Assisting in building up a restaurant portfolio of a national restaurant from three restaurants to 26.
