Ed is a Partner in Clarke Willmott’s London Commercial Property team. He advises on portfolio and single asset management including landlord and tenant issues, development funding, corporate support work and investment acquisitions and disposals.
During his career, Ed has represented institutional investors and funds, privately owned UK and overseas property investment and development companies and asset managers.
Before joining Clarke Willmott in 2018 Ed worked at Forsters LLP and Macfarlanes LLP.
Acting for a number of institutional landowners, investors and charities on acquisitions and disposals. Recent examples include:
Leading the acquisition of Mark Square, Shoreditch, a standalone building single let to Thomson Reuters for £38 million within five working days of receiving heads of terms and subsequent letting to WeWork for an annual rent of £3.5 million.
Heading the team on the purchase of the Middleton Shopping Centre (with in excess
of 45 occupational tenants) on behalf of a JV between Ellandi and SilverPoint Capital.
Acting on the disposal of 7 industrial properties for a sale price of £44 million.
Acting for institutional funds and other investors on the acquisition and development of prime sites, including:
Advising Savills Investment Management’s London Prime Residential Development Fund II in relation to their acquisition and development of properties in Putney, Woolwich, Croydon, Hendon and Earlsfield with a combined gross development value in excess of £200 million.
Acting on the purchase (purchase price of £57.5 million) and current redevelopment of One Crown Place, London on behalf of a Malaysian infrastructure company.
Landlord and Tenant
Advising landlords and corporate occupiers in relation to leases and general property management issues.

Sole legal advisor on the asset management of the Castlegate Shopping Centre, Stockton-on-Tees on behalf of Ellandi.
General property management/lettings work (mainly retail and office units) on behalf of BMO Real Estate Partners (formerly F&C).
Leading on the lettings of the occupational leases of BMO’s 25 Great Pulteney Street, London.
Acting on behalf of Jo Malone in relation to their office premises on Sloane Square.
Advising ICAP on the impact of British Land’s Broadgate redevelopment.
Real Estate Financing
Acting on the property aspects of corporate financings including acting for BMO in connection with the re-financing of its entire F&C Commercial Property Fund portfolio.
Giving seminars on English property law and topical real estate issues (both internally and externally to clients and surveyors)
Writing articles on topical real estate issues.
Debt Advice Centre: providing pro bono debt advice at the Cambridge House drop-in centre.
Reading scheme: reading to primary school children on a weekly basis to improve their literacy skills.
