Rehabilitation

The personal injury and medical negligence teams at Clarke Willmott are committed to working in our clients’ best interests. Our role is not only to recover financial compensation, but to ensure that client’s receive the best possible support and rehabilitation throughout and beyond their claim.

The main goal for claimant’s is to recover from their injuries, return to work and aim to get their lives back on track as soon as possible. Rehabilitation is a key force in helping that happen.

We at Clarke Willmott follow the 2015 Rehabilitation Code. As the code develops, the underlying principles remain the same; the collaboration between claimant’s and defendant’s in obtaining rehabilitation from day one.

The process set by the code begins with the claimant’s needs being assessed by an independent expert, who will recommend treatments and therapies to encourage recovery. If the defendant’s insurer feels that the cost of that treatment are fair and will benefit the claimant, they will fund it there and then, sometimes before any admission of liability is made. Assessments under the Rehabilitation Code often provides claimant’s with access to treatment that would not otherwise be available under the NHS, but the assessment will also maximise the use of NHS services to provide an optimum treatment plan. It can also include things such as transport to and from your appointments, equipment and aids to allow independence at home, or even a support worker.

The independent expert will continually review your case to ensure that you are receiving the best available treatment, and liaise with your employer and doctors to encourage a holistic approach to your recovery.

As we are accredited by the Association for Personal Injury Lawyers (“APIL”), we also follow its “Best Practice Guide on Rehabilitation”.
