Kate is an Associate in the construction team specialising primarily in contentious construction law and dispute resolution. Kate deals with court proceedings in the Technology and Construction Court, the Pre-Action Protocol for Construction and Engineering Disputes, adjudication and enforcement proceedings.

Kate’s experience includes complex and high-value construction disputes working with employers, developers, contractors and specialist sub-contractors across the industry, both regionally and nationally in the public and private sectors. Kate regularly advises clients involved in construction payment disputes and professional negligence claims.

Kate also has experience in non-contentious construction law, including drafting, negotiating and advising on a range of construction documents: building contracts, consultants’ appointments and collateral warranties. Kate has experience drafting several forms of building contract including JCT, NEC and MF/1.

Kate joined Clarke Willmott in 2011 having graduated from the University of Manchester and having spent a year studying French law at the University of Burgundy in Dijon.

Kate is a committee member of the Forum for Tomorrow, Western and also is a member of the Adjudication Society and Society of Construction Law.


  • Advising an international contractor in relation to the termination of a £99 million EPC Contract.
  • Representing a specialist sub-contractor on the swift recovery of monies unlawfully withheld by the main contractor, successfully recovering the withheld sums on behalf of the client.
  • Advising a multi-national contractor client on the strengths of its contractual position in respect of the inapplicability of liquidated damages provisions prior to the client entering into commercial negotiations with its employer. The legal advice given led to a settlement in respect of liquidated damages negotiated between the parties.
  • Conducting a series of adjudications on behalf of an international contractor against one of its sub-contractors in respect of prolongation claims.
