The Commercial Litigation Partner was elected by the board to take over from previous Chairman Graham Knight, who had served as Vice Chairman for two years.
The three year term began when Greg was appointed at the AGM on 23 November.
Dale Edwards, Chief Executive of Somerset Chamber of Commerce, said: “I’m delighted that Greg has been elected as the new Chairman of Somerset Chamber of Commerce. His passion for the Chamber and Somerset is clear and I look forward to working in partnership with him and the rest of the board over the coming years including the new board members.”
Greg Saunders, newly appointed Chairman of Somerset Chamber of Commerce, said: “I’m looking forward to taking on the new role as Chairman of Somerset Chamber. Having been on the Board as Vice Chairman for two years, and previously sat on the board of the Black Country Chamber, I’m well versed in the workings of a Chamber of Commerce.
As a Commercial Litigation Partner at Clarke Willmott in Taunton, I advise companies both big and small on a variety of matters and my role with the Chamber helps me to really understand the issues affecting them and how that might impact on resolving the dispute or making that useful referral.
“I am passionate about helping secure future prosperity for a County that is my adopted home and where my children grow up and are educated. I look forward to working with the Chamber team to support and grow a vibrant Somerset economy.”
The Somerset Chamber of Commerce represents and works collaboratively with the Somerset business community to encourage strong, sustainable and creative alliances that promote members’ businesses, raise the profile of the county, and help to lobby for greater influence for Somerset at all levels of government.
