National law firm Clarke Willmott LLP has welcomed record interest in its annual summer vacation scheme, with almost 600 applications received for this year’s programme.
A total of 21 aspiring lawyers took part in the scheme across six of the firm’s regional offices, gaining an insight into life at Clarke Willmott and the opportunities available within the legal profession. The anonymised shortlisting process ensured a focus on inclusivity and accessibility.
The week-long paid work experience scheme gave participants the opportunity to experience the firm’s working environment, develop their skills and confidence, and gain a better understanding of the work undertaken by its teams.
At the end of the week, students took part in the inaugural Clarke Willmott Catalyst Awards, celebrating their achievements and contributions throughout the scheme.
Feedback from participants has been overwhelmingly positive. Of those who completed the post-vacation scheme questionnaire, 100% rated the scheme five stars, while 100% said that taking part had helped to improve their confidence.
Emma Davies-Perks, Early Careers Advisor at Clarke Willmott, said: “The record level of applications, alongside the positive feedback from participants, demonstrates the continued appeal of Clarke Willmott’s early careers opportunities and its commitment to providing aspiring lawyers with meaningful experience and development opportunities.
“The summer vacation scheme forms part of Clarke Willmott’s wider commitment to supporting the next generation of legal talent and providing opportunities for students to gain first-hand experience of working in a leading UK law firm.
“As ever the scheme introduced us to some incredibly talented young people who we look forward to keeping in touch with as they move through their qualifications.”
This year marked the first time the firm hosted a LinkedIn Live session as part of its graduate recruitment activity. The session was positively received by prospective applicants, with a significant number of students specifically referencing the LinkedIn Live in their applications.
