Clarke Willmott’s national medical negligence team has partnered with charity Meningitis Now to support an important new campaign which calls for the MenB vaccine to be given to those most at risk of disease.

Meningitis Now’s ‘No plan B for MenB campaign’ asks people to sign a petition for more people in the UK to receive a MenB vaccine. This includes vaccinating the most vulnerable and introducing a MenB booster programme to protect adolescents from 2030.

The charity says that MenB is one of the most common causes of meningitis in the UK. It can be deadly or at least, life-changing, but it is preventable.

Kerry Fifield, partner and team manager of Clarke Willmott’s clinical negligence team, said: “It will be great to work with such a respected and worthy charity and support the work they are engaged with. Having seen, from previous cases, the devastating impact of meningitis and specifically the impact that MenB can have on young lives and their families, we will be supporting their No Plan B for MenB campaign.

“The team at Clarke Willmott have considerable experience of dealing with complex, high value meningitis and sepsis claims, specifically where children and young adults have suffered life changing brain damage, amputation, hearing loss and tragically death.”

Clarke Willmott’s team of highly experienced medical negligence lawyers help clients who have suffered an injury or life changing condition as a result of a medical mistake, delay in treatment or wrong diagnosis. As well as securing much needed and deserved compensation, the team help clients access support and rehabilitation services to enhance their quality of life.

Laura Williams from Meningitis Now, said: “We are delighted to welcome Clarke Wilmott to the Brighter Future Partnership group at Meningitis Now. This is an exciting new partnership that will add further legal expertise and insight to our support offering. It is so exciting to be working together this year and we are looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together.”

Meningitis Now is the first meningitis patient group in the world, founders of the meningitis movement and the only charity dedicated to fighting meningitis in the UK. Over its 30 year history, the charity has invested over £12.7m in early stage research that has played a critical part in the introduction of five life-saving vaccines.
