Clarke Willmott has made a raft of internal promotions as part of its commitment to people development, with a Southampton lawyer included in the announcement.

Across the firm’s seven regional offices 29 promotions have been made including promotions to associate, senior associate and partner positions.

Cathy Harris in the commercial and private client litigation team has been promoted from senior associate to partner in a move which recognises her ability to run complex, heavyweight cases alongside increased management responsibilities.

Cathy specialises in helping businesses and individuals to resolve complex commercial disputes. Cathy leads the Southampton commercial and private client litigation team which is ranked in tier 2 in the 2023 Legal 500 directory. Cathy is part of a dedicated team dealing with COVID related business interruption claims, advising on entitlement to indemnity cover, as well as right against brokers for inadequate coverage.

New CEO of Clarke Willmott, Peter Swinburn, said: “I’m pleased to announce this year’s internal promotions. As always, this is an opportunity to recognise the strength of talent and diversity we have across the firm. It’s a pleasure to see how those being promoted have already stepped up in readiness for their new roles. Our people sit at the centre of our success and the excellent client service we offer. Ensuring their development is fundamental and part of creating a great people experience. The people we promote have all shown the skills, talent and aptitude vital for us to take advantage of future opportunities.”

Daniel Jones, Clarke Willmott’s director of human resources, said: “I am delighted that of the 29 lawyers promoted nationally, 20 are women. It demonstrates our commitment to building an inclusive and equitable environment where everyone can reach their full potential.”
