Mathew Wilson

Mathew advises social landlords on contentious and non-contentious housing and asset management matters with a particular focus on housing conditions claims.

Matthew has worked within the Social Housing sector for 16 years and leads our Asset Management team. He has extensive experience of handling claims relating to the condition of properties including standalone disrepair claims, disrepair counterclaims, claims surrounding the fitness of a property for habitation and prosecutions raised on grounds of prejudice to health. He has unrivalled experience of housing conditions claims and has successfully defended countless cases at trial. Matthew has developed an in-depth understanding of building pathology which provides a unique ability to formulate defences to claims.

Aside for his Asset Management experience Matthew represents and advises landlords on all housing management related issues, including ASB injunctions, succession claims, breach of tenancy and in particular handles complex possession claims.

In addition to advising on litigated matters Matthew also advises on policy and strategy and delivers training to clients and sector organisations.

Experience

Matthew has handled several complex and high value matters involving multiple claims brought by the residents of a multiuse building which stemmed from a structural defect and a claim involving alleged discrimination owing the manner in which repairs were undertaken.
