The King’s Fund have today published the findings of their annual survey on Public Satisfaction with the NHS and Social Care, and it makes for depressing reading.

Just 1 in 5 people in 2024 were ‘very’ or ‘quite’ satisfied with the way the NHS runs. The survey showed a worrying trend of increased division between the generations with increased levels of dissatisfaction in younger age groups.

The main issue for most of those surveyed was dissatisfaction with waiting lists and the ability to get appointments with GP, dentistry and A&E services, which were particularly highlighted.

The survey illustrates a trend we are seeing in the enquiries we receive, where people are increasingly suffering harm due to delays in receiving treatment.

In 2024, just one in five British adults (21%) were ‘very’ or ‘quite’ satisfied with the way in which the NHS runs. This is the lowest level of satisfaction recorded since the survey began in 1983 and shows a steep decline of 39 percentage points since 2019.
