Clarke Willmott advises on transfer of social housing in South Wales
Our specialist team of social housing lawyers have advised on the transfer of 31 properties at Maes Trisant in South Wales from Habinteg Housing Association to RHA Wales Group
Social housing provider RHA already owns more than 80 homes in the Talbot Green area of Llantrisant, as well as an additional housing estate nearby.
RHA Wales was advised during the transaction by Vicky Kells, partner and head of the social housing team at Clarke Willmott in Cardiff, alongside commercial property solicitor Jessica Hayward. Clarke Willmott’s social housing team is one of the largest in the UK and acts for over 100 RPs and RSLs as well as major frameworks including HALA, CHIC, SEC and ASW.
Rhianydd Jenkins, director of development and regeneration at RHA Wales Group Ltd, said: “We appointed Clarke Willmott having worked with them on a previous acquisition, so we had absolute confidence that the team could deliver what we needed and support us through the transaction in a relatively short period of time.
“As with all property transactions, there are twists and turns along the way, but with support and guidance from Vicky and Jess we found solutions which resulted in a successful deal for us as a business.”
“We were pleased to be asked to support RHA on this important project, which provides RHA and our local communities with much needed housing” said Vicky Kells.
Habinteg chief executive, Nick Apetroaie, added: “Habinteg is pleased that our properties at Maes Trisant are being transferred to a provider with a strong presence in Wales. This has been a key priority expressed by tenants, which came across clearly as part of the consultation.
“I’m grateful for all the collaborative hard work by both RHA and Habinteg teams in preparation for this handover and wish the Maes Trisant tenants the very best with their new landlord.”
