Clarke Willmott acts on acquisition of two residential homes

Our corporate team has acted for a first-time buyer of two residential care homes in Devon.

The deal was led by Kirill Bingham, head of the firm’s corporate team in Taunton, assisted by senior associate Tom Potts, employment partner, Paula Squire and the firm’s specialist commercial property team.

Summercourt in Teignmouth and Pottles Court in Exminster operate under the Classic Care Homes brand. The homes were purchased by husband-and-wife team, Dr Shashi and Munisha Balain.

Kirill Bingham said the transaction demonstrated the currently buoyant market and the variety of care homes being acquired across the South West: “It was a pleasure to help secure the couple’s entry into the UK care sector and we wish Shashi and Munisha the best of luck in their new venture. I know that they will leave no stone unturned in their quest to build on the success of the previous owners, continue to offer excellent care support and expand their UK presence.”

Dr Balain praised Clarke Willmott for its support, professionalism and clear advice on the management of the purchase process.

We would like to thank Kirill Bingham and Clarke Willmott for helping us through a very tough acquisition. They were a pleasure to deal with and took a commercial approach in light of the very deal-specific sensitivities required. We will be using their services again and recommending them to our friends and business partners.”

The sale of Summercourt and Pottles Court was facilitated by specialist business property advisors Christie & Co (Simon Harvey, senior director) and funding for the buyer was sourced through Christie Finance (Jimmy Johns, director). Hazlewoods (Richard Pitt, corporate finance director), provided specialist corporate finance support.
