Having represented a wide range of clients from large developers, football clubs and social housing providers through to main contractors, specialist subcontractors and pharmaceutical companies, Georgina has a breadth of experience working with all types of organisations across the construction industry. Georgina’s work regularly involves assisting clients in navigating complex contractual disputes, negotiating settlements and advancing claims through various forms of dispute resolution including litigation, adjudication and mediation.

Experience

Georgina’s recent experience includes the following:

  • Representing a major utilities contractor in adjudication proceedings relating to a £8 million final account dispute with a DNO and assisting with the negotiation of a substantial settlement.
  • Acting for an employer regarding its development of a water bottling facility, including defending extension of time and loss and expense claims, ultimately culminating in the settlement of £30 million final account dispute.
  • Acting for an electrical engineering client in relation to a series of disputes against an employer concerning an unpaid notified sum, extension of time and repudiatory breach of contract.
  • Lidl Great Britain Ltd v Closed Circuit Cooling Ltd (t/a 3CL) [2023] EWHC 2243 (TCC) – acting for Lidl in connection with the widely reported case concerning the interpretation of contractual payment provisions and the application of the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996.
  • Assisting a fit-out contractor engaged on the redevelopment of a new hotel in relation to the handling of a delay dispute.
  • Advising a pharmaceutical company in respect of its rights regarding substantial defects in the structure of its flagship laboratory and testing centre.
  • Representing a contractor client in adjudication proceedings against a consultant concerning the negligent provision of quantity surveying services.
  • Acting for a utilities contractor in a series of three adjudications against a sub-contractor relating to a package of fibre connections works, including enforcing the adjudicator’s decision via the courts.
  • Advising an RP client regarding its rights and obligations following the introduction of the Building Safety Act 2022 on a scheme where it had been involved in the original development but had only retained leasehold titles – this included consideration of Remediation Orders, an application for Building Safety Funding and establishing a clear strategy to manage the client’s exposure for remediation costs.
