Our relationship breakdown tool

Our Parting Ways tool is a great first step in guiding you through the legalities of a relationship breakdown. If your marriage, civil partnership or co-habiting relationship has broken down irreparably, our free easy-to-use tool provides an overview of what you need to consider from a legal perspective.

It takes a few minutes to complete and you will receive a guide tailored to your responses. You will not be asked for any personal information unless you decide you would like to speak with one of our solicitors.

Support and guidance through the legalities of your break up

When a committed relationship comes to an end, there is usually a lot to consider. Going through a separation, divorce, dissolution or ending of a cohabiting relationship is often highly emotional. Communication sometimes breaks down or you may not agree on important matters.

Even when a break-up is amicable, the process can still be exhausting. Your finances are likely to be closely connected and one of you may be financially dependent on the other. You may have children, own your home or run a family business together. There might be international aspects to your relationship or you may be part way through fertility treatment. Unravelling all of this can seem like an impossible task.

In the midst of change it’s understandable that knowing how to best proceed can be overwhelming, especially when you are unsure of what your legal position is. We are here to help you. Our multidisciplinary team can be by your side at every step and through every twist and turn, helping you reach the best outcome for you and your family.

Relationship breakdown law is complex. Whilst your Parting Ways guide will give you an idea of your legal position, every couple’s circumstances are unique. The information is intended to be used as a starting point, not as a replacement for seeking legal advice.
