Our staff survey results

What is it like working at Clarke Willmott?

Our people are the heart of our decision making and listening to how our people feel about working at Clarke Willmott is core to that. Roughly every six months we run a survey so we can understand what our staff enjoy about life here and where improvements can be made.

Almost two thirds of our people completed our June 2022 survey.

The results

What we learnt

1. We have a significant proportion (92%) of staff who are really or mainly enjoying working at Clarke Willmott.

2. 95% of respondents would be likely or highly likely to recommend CW as a place to work.

3. We do an excellent job of managing new joiners to the firm. 132 out of 133 new joiners had their expectations entirely or mainly met.

4. Our approach to hybrid working is working. 96% of staff who are in the same or similar roles to the role they had pre-pandemic believe that they are now working more effectively.

5. Not only are staff more effective now, they enjoy working flexibly. 95% are enjoying the days that they work at home.

6. There is a strong preference amongst staff for us to retain flexibility around work location. 60% of staff would prefer to work largely from home, with 40% wanting to work in the office up to 50% of their week.

7. Whilst working in a successful law firm can be hard work, almost 60% of our staff tell us that they have “a great work life balance”.

8. If stressed, 95% of staff would feel comfortable raising this. 5% of staff would not be comfortable, so we have work to do with this group.

9. We are committed to our “no blame culture” and 99.2% of respondents confirmed they would be comfortable admitting to a mistake.

10. 94% of our people agree with the statement that “the firm has a positive workplace culture”. We are really proud of that we have such a high recognition of this culture.

What our people said

“The firm has surpassed my expectations and I feel fortunate to work here.”

“I really enjoy working at CW. I am excited about the future of the business and my career here.”

“Hybrid working has given me the opportunity to work full time rather than part time which I would not have been able to do pre-pandemic due to costs of childcare and fuel. “I have very much enjoyed my time so far working at Clarke Willmott, the culture is refreshing and welcoming.”

“These regular surveys are great – people feel heard and included – thank you.”

It is the commitment and enthusiasm from the people that make up the success of the firm and it’s great that we have that. People enjoy working here and they care about others. I have a great team that I work with.”

“I believe the firm is heading in the right direction and look forward to the next stage of growth.”

“I had a very positive experience when I first joined CW and I sincerely want to work together with CW moving forwards.”
