Clarke Willmott’s property team shortlisted for award

Cardiff law firm Clarke Willmott LLP has been shortlisted for an industry award for its legal expertise in the property sector.

A named finalist in the Property Law Firm of the Year category at the upcoming Wales Insider Property Awards, Clarke Willmott’s latest transactions have made an impact on the region’s property market and impressed the judging panel.

Primarily specialising in the real estate, retail & leisure, and social housing sectors, Clarke Willmott also deals with property issues across other industries.

Notable clients include Parc Dewi Sant Ltd, Mansford, Starburst (UK) Limited, Portavia Developments Limited, Careers Choices Dewis Gyfra Ltd (Careers Wales), Welsh Government, Development Bank of Wales, Lloyds Bank plc, Principality Building Society, Triodos Bank, SHAW Healthcare, Cardiff YMCA 1910 Successor Trustees, Tai Tarian, Linc Cymru, Hafod Housing Association and Beacon Cymru (formerly RHA Wales).

Clare Gregory, head of Clarke Willmott’s Cardiff office, said: “We are due to celebrate our 10th anniversary in Cardiff in 2025, so this award nomination has come at a great time to reflect on and celebrate our achievements.

“In the last decade we have grown with six times the number of staff we first had. We also moved our office from the Bay to a central location on Callaghan Square.

“We have expanded our expertise, introducing new teams and we have grown our client base, now working with some really impressive businesses and organisations, who return to us year on year.

“ESG is top of our agenda and we have made great strides in the past 12 months to ensure that our environmental credentials are where they need to be and that we are focused on our social goals, which include improving social mobility in the region.

“At Clarke Willmott we understand that the legal sector plays a vital role in supporting individuals, communities and the business community and is therefore a significant contributor to the global Welsh economy.”

In terms of specific transactions, the Clarke Willmott team highlights its work on a recent food hall development in central Cardiff. The multi-disciplinary team worked on a challenging deal at the site of a ‘landlocked’ former nightclub within Duke Street and High Street Arcades. Acting on behalf of real estate investment firm Mansford in its capacity as landlord, the team facilitated the grant of a long lease to a food/bar operator among other legal matters. The team continues to act for this client now.

The Insider Wales Property Awards will take place on 12 June at the Coal Exchange. Celebrating 20 years of the awards, the high profile event will spotlight the property deals, professional advisers, developments, construction companies, developers and personalities which have shaped the industry in the last year.
