Matthew is a Partner in the Corporate and Commercial team in Manchester, specialising in mergers and acquisitions, corporate structuring, buy-outs, joint ventures, and data governance.
He acts for clients across a broad range of sectors, but has particular expertise in the healthcare, financial services and education sectors.
Prior to joining Clarke Willmott in 2019, Matthew spent two years leading the legal function of a national healthcare provider and consolidator from their Manchester office. Matthew sits as a committee member of pro-Manchester’s healthcare sector group.

- Acted for the majority seller on the disposal of CPS Building Services Limited to HIG Capital for a consideration of up to £36m.
- Acting on the acquisitions and disposals of numerous care home businesses with typical values ranging from £1m to £12.5m.
- Advising on the implementation of a large-scale multi-tier GP partnership and multi-practice organisation models in the primary care sector.
- Acting on the acquisitions and disposals of numerous wealth management and financial advisory firms with typical values ranging from £2.5m to £50m.
- Acting on the acquisitions and disposals of numerous UK-based GP surgeries, dental practices, pharmacies and day nursery businesses, with typical values ranging from £500,000 to £3.5m.
- Acting for both healthcare and commercial providers in advising on and negotiating the terms of agreements with NHS commissioners, including but not limited to general medical service contracts, personal medical service contracts, alternative provider medical service contracts, general dental service contracts and NHS terms and conditions for the supply of goods or services.
- The incorporation of a wealth management business into a limited company, including the formation and structuring of family investment companies.
- Acting for an international lender in relation to their provision of funding to facilitate acquisitions of manufacturing and technology companies.
