Alice Finlow

Alice provides friendly and approachable service whilst giving commercial advice and delivering results for clients.

Alice is a Solicitor in the Employment Team in Manchester.

Alice is experienced in assisting clients to successfully defend employment tribunal claims. She has assisted with a number of different types of claims involving a range of employment issues, including unfair dismissal, discrimination and whistleblowing. In particular, Alice is experienced in preparing witnesses for hearings and supporting both witnesses and clients up to and throughout hearings. She has also assisted with High Court litigation in relation to injunctive relief.

Alice is experienced in advising both employers and employees on non-contentious HR and employment law matters. Her experience in advising employers includes:

• preparing template and bespoke employment contracts for all levels, from junior staff to senior executives and directors;
• preparing staff handbooks;
• assisting with a large restructure and collective consultation process by delivering training to senior individuals involved in the process;
• dealing with subject access requests; and
• providing bespoke advice to specific employment law queries.

Alice’s experience in advising employees includes:

• negotiating settlements and advising on settlement agreements;
• advising on potential claims; and
• providing specific advice on work-related issues.

Alice has a Bachelor’s Degree in Law and a Master’s Degree in Law.

Alice is part of Clarke Willmott’s Corporate Social Responsibility Team for the Manchester office. She helped organise a charity static bike ride (The Accumulator Challenge) at the Manchester office which raised just over £6,000 for St Ann’s Hospice, a hospice in Manchester which cares for patients and families affected by cancer.

Alice also ran the Manchester half marathon in 2019 to raise money for St Ann’s.

In September 2021, Alice ran the half marathon at the Wilmslow Running Festival and helped to raise just over £700 for Supportability, a charity supporting children and adults with learning and physical disabilities.

Alice’s practice with employment tribunal cases has made her adaptable to fast paced situations and proficient in finding solutions to deliver the best results for clients.

Experience

• Successfully achieved strike out of spurious employment tribunal claim against a client.
• Recently assisted with defending a claim of race discrimination against a client. Hard work resulted in a finding of forgery against the claimant and Alice is currently assisting the respondent client in relation to a costs application.
• Assisted with advising over 100 employees on their exit from a company.
• Assisted a client with a large restructuring and collective consultation process by delivering training sessions to senior individuals involved in the process.
• Negotiated exit of senior executive and advised the individual on the settlement agreement.
  Assisted with High Court litigation in relation to injunctive relief.
