Knowledge Lawyer – Knowledge Services, Commercial Property and Property Teams – Firm Wide

We have an exciting new opportunity available for an experienced lawyer with a strong breadth of knowledge across the Property and Real Estate arena (both commercial and residential). The Knowledge Lawyer opportunity is a rewarding position that would be ideal for a Lawyer who is looking to move away from fee earning work and get involved in strategic transformation projects across Knowledge Management and Property teams.

You will work within a multi-disciplinary KM team on firm-wide projects and in supporting key stakeholders within the property practice areas to identify, develop and deliver strategic support to drive the growth of the business.

You could be working remotely and based out of any of our offices, providing support to all CW offices with some travel necessary, particularly at first as you build relationships and knowledge of your practice group.

We welcome applications from full time or part-time candidates and offer a degree of flexibility to suit you. We can offer between 21 to 30 hours per week spread over 3, 4 or 5 days – although flexibility from you would be helpful. You will be the sole Professional Support Lawyer (PSL) for the division, but you will have support within the wider Knowledge Services Team, and you’ll report into the Head of Knowledge and the Practice Area head.

Day to day, you’ll be successful in this role by:

Not all Knowledge Lawyer (PSL type) roles are created equal. Our Knowledge Lawyer role provides a level of autonomy and responsibility which makes it stand out from the crowd. Working with the Head of Knowledge and the Property teams you will shape and define strategic priorities for your area. You will be an independent thinker with a commercial, pragmatic, and proactive approach.

The role includes:

Support implementation of KM strategy

• Review client work in relation to market standards, conduct post- matter reviews, introduce process efficiencies, and best practice.
• Supporting the review, trial, development and implementation of new legal technology and innovations – business analysis & project capability
• Work with systems/change teams to introduce innovative solutions e.g. document automation.
• Support BD team with thought leadership activities and client facing knowledge, such as horizon scanning updates and training.

 

Legal Knowledge Support

• Ensure lawyers are kept up to date on relevant legal and regulatory developments.
• Provide research advice on complex legal issues.
• Draft and maintain standard form precedents, including guidance.
• Orchestrate a legal training programme using a blend of learning methods and consulting with team leaders on requirements.
• Support legal SQE training – working with property partners and L&D teams.

This role is right for you if:

You will be an experienced Property lawyer – solicitor, barrister or equivalent – with at least 6 years’ relevant post qualification experience.

You may have a broad Property background or if you have become more specialised you will still be interested in all aspects of Property practice and Real Estate sector.

You will be proactive, self-starter and able to prioritise your work.

You will be able to work independently and collaborate across teams.

You will have crisp, clear, accurate drafting skills and enjoy educating and assisting others.

Our clients expect us to be down to earth and provide straightforward, clear, concise advice, so you will need to filter out unnecessary complications, jargon, and technicalities to focus on what is important to your fee earners and their clients.

You will be intellectually curious, enthusiastic about the law and keen to continuously learn.

You will be able to develop and nurture strong relationships with colleagues.

You will be aware of market best practice and the challenges that your lawyers and their clients face – this will help to drive process efficiencies and development within your practice area. At the heart of everything we do is high quality work and client service excellence.
