Landlords in the private rented sector are now required to give their tenants a Renters’ Rights Act Information Sheet 2026 before 31 May 2026 or face a fine of up to £7,000.

The Information Sheet, in the prescribed form, must be given by landlords if the tenancy is:

  • an assured or assured shorthold tenancy;
  • was created before 1 May 2026;
  • has a written tenancy agreement;

The Information Sheet must be given either as a hard copy or a pdf version to every tenant named in the tenancy agreement by 31 May 2026.  Sending tenants a link to the Information Sheet will not be compliant.

For more information, contact Gabrielle Roberts gabrielle.roberts@clarkewillmott.com or Lynn James lynn.james@clarkewillmott.com

The Information Sheet is a document produced by the government for tenants. It explains how their tenancy may be affected by the changes introduced by the Renters’ Rights Act 2025.
