An opportunity to continue a legal career in a national law firm. Based in our Debt Recovery Team, supervising a team acting for our one of our major clients. This will include monitoring and managing the team’s high-volume workloads, answering queries, handling the client relationship and providing technical support.

Our highly regarded Debt Recovery team is based only in our Taunton office, but it provides a national service for Government Departments, Local Authorities, insurance companies, managing agents, businesses and individuals.

We are a well-regarded team with a strong reputation, achieving a tier 1 ranking in the Legal 500. Operating for over 25 years, we are led by a Partner, a manager and a team of supervisors.

The team specialises in all aspects of debt recovery from debts pursued before court proceedings are issued through to court judgments, insolvency and enforcement proceedings. The team is divided into different ‘mini’ teams that work on specific contracts for our clients, allowing them to become experts in that area.

Day to day, you’ll be successful in this role by:

We are looking to appoint someone, who must have had previous debt recovery experience and can demonstrate success in supervising high volume contracts. You will be dealing with one of our major clients, primarily by overseeing a team of Paralegals and administration staff who will service the contract.  Previous experience of managing a team is also essential for this role.

We are looking for someone who is an effective team player and will guide the team, assist the department and work with the management team. You will also get support and training from your manager in a relaxed but professional and hard-working team. It is a fast-paced role and you will need to juggle many priorities.

You will receive on the job training for the contract you will be working on and our CMS, allowing you to learn from a high-performing team and progress your career in our firm.

On a day to day basis, your role will involve:

  • Being responsible for monitoring caseloads and volumes and reporting these to management with any concerns
  • Directing the team on where to focus to keep us in line with our Service Level Agreement
  • Ensuring there is sufficient resource in our team to comply with the Service Level Agreement
  • Dealing with complaints, both written and verbal, and liaise with client directly in relation to the complaint
  • Answering daily queries from the team at each stage of the life of a case
  • Attending client meetings and play an active part in maintaining client relationships
  • Actively look for areas of improvement in efficiency and provide suggestions on these
  • Providing ongoing support to your team with regards to training and development
  • Carrying out daily checking and quality control on the output produced by your team

It is an integral part of this role that you comply with information security and all firm policies and procedures.

Experience:

Required:

  • Have experience in managing high volume contracts
  • Have experience in supervising a team of paralegals

Ideal:

  • Have prior debt recovery experience
  • Have litigation experience
  • Whatever your background, you will have strong written and verbal communication skills, a good level of basic numeracy and plenty of common sense
