Conveyancing Assistant – Social Housing
An excellent opportunity to join our established Social Housing Conveyancing team in Taunton as a Conveyancing Assistant.

We are looking to hire a self motivated and experienced individual who will provide pro-active support with a focus on exceptional attention to detail, helping to deliver an outstanding service to our social housing clients. Based within our Homes Sales team which sits within our Property division, your workload will be varied. Your regular duties will include:
- Following case progression protocols and procedures
- Preparing weekly update reports for clients
- Collation of documentation
- Creation of documentation
- Land registry applications and SDLT returns
- Completion of transactions
- Providing after sales assistance to our social housing clients
- You will have regular communication with the clients (taking messages, arranging meetings etc.) so you should be able to demonstrate professionalism, diplomacy and sensitivity in all of your communications.
The above list is not exhaustive but provides you with the overall framework for the activities that are expected within this role.
This is a very busy role, with deadlines to manage and competing priorities, so the successful applicant will be required to work quickly, accurately and efficiently and to remain calm under pressure. You will be expected to think ahead to meet the needs of our clients.
This role provides opportunities to progress within the team and develop your career further within the social housing sector.
It is an integral part of this role that you comply with information security and all firm policies and procedures.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate real potential, with the talent, ambition and interest to succeed in a career within this field. As either a law or GDL graduate, you will already have a good technical grounding in the law with a keen interest in property and in particular the social housing sector. If you have completed the LPC then that would also be an advantage.
We would prefer you to have at least 6 months’ experience, ideally within a social housing conveyancing role. Whatever your property experience, you will need excellent academics and strong communication skills to be considered for this role.
The work requires self-motivation and the ability to work to demanding deadlines, so you’ll need to show us that you have initiative, drive and great organisational skills.

We expect you to be someone who takes pride in your work and who will provide a first class support service to your colleagues, anticipating their needs in advance wherever possible, and paying meticulous attention to detail in all of your work.
