Associate – Insolvency – Manchester
Due to continued growth, we are looking for an Associate (three to six-plus years PQE) to join our well-regarded team in Manchester.

Our national Insolvency team is led by five Partners and has presence in our Manchester, Southampton, London, Bristol and Birmingham offices. In Manchester, you will be joining a full service and commercially astute insolvency practice, from advisory and formal insolvency, to the successful realisation of assets for the benefit of creditors.
The team has a heavy emphasis on contentious work and are expert in advising upon complex antecedent transactions and procedural applications made pursuant to the Insolvency Act 1986. You would be joining a team that are instructed to pursue substantial and highly technical claims, often involving fraud and complex multi-jurisdictional recovery options. We also specialise in non-contentious insolvency, advising officeholders and stakeholders in relation to pre-pack and trading administrations, restructuring options, LPA receiverships, security, validity of appointment, CVA’s, liquidations and court administration applications.
You will enjoy access to a wide variety of Insolvency work, managing your own caseload from inception to conclusion, exercising professional judgment with regard to established Clarke Willmott case management system and client protocols.
This role would be able to offer the flexibility of home working, should you want to work away from the Manchester office for part of the week.
It is an integral part of this role that you comply with information security and all firm policies and procedures.
We are looking for someone who can make an immediate impact, and the role would be well suited to a three to six year qualified ambitious lawyer who is looking to progress their career within Insolvency and Restructuring within a supportive firm. You will have already gained solid experience in this field and will be able to demonstrate that you are capable of working independently on a variety of insolvency matters.
We would also be open to hearing from Litigators looking to retrain or Lawyers who have worked within financial services litigation or commercial litigation.
You will also be able to show that you have some solid contacts in the market and will be given the platform to build on and develop those.
You’ll need a strong intellect to succeed in this role, so we will be looking for a corresponding level of consistent academic achievement. You’ll also need to show us that you have initiative, drive and great organisational skills. The work requires self-motivation, resilience and strong communication skills, both written and oral.
You will relish helping others and be eager to learn. We expect you to be someone who takes pride in your work and who will provide a first-class service to our clients, anticipating their needs in advance wherever possible, and paying meticulous attention to detail in all of your work.
