Wills and Trusts

Wills

Everyone should have a Will and whatever your client’s age, it is sensible for them to plan what will happen to their assets after their death. Whether they want to ensure that their family is provided for, appoint guardians for their children, reward friendships or ensure that their assets pass to particular people, making a Will can provide peace of mind and prevent legal problems for your client’s family later on.

We offer a range of Will packages and can advise on the best way to ensure that your client’s wishes are met with regard to their estate. Our lawyers will work closely with your client so they understand the available options and how they work. We will take time to get to understand their needs and what is important to them so they can feel confident that they are laying the best plans for the future.

Our ‘Which Will?’ questionnaire can be used to help your client consider what is important to them when it comes to making a Will. The questionnaire takes a couple of minutes to complete and they will receive detailed information about which of our Will packages we believe will best meet their needs, including how much it will cost. This information is to be used as a starting point only; there may be finer details in your client’s circumstances that need to be addressed.

Find a Will for your client

A Will is a complex document and an inadequate Will can lead to serious problems down the line. This is especially true if your client’s financial and/or family situation is complex. Wills quickly become more complex following divorce or separation, especially if there are children involved. Having a family business, multiple properties or international assets can also increase the complexity of a Will, as can the desire to protect an estate from particular scenarios. However complicated your client’s situation, we can help them plan and create a bespoke Will that ensures their loved ones and their estate are protected.

Trusts

We also offer trust solutions as part of lifetime planning. A trust is a way of managing assets and can be effective on the death of the client. We use trusts to provide solutions to tax saving and protection problems as part of your client’s lifetime planning.

We can also advise on trust restructuring, including bringing trusts to an end where appropriate, and how to set up and finance existing trusts. We can review your client’s family trusts to ensure that they are serving their needs for now and for the future.
