technical expertise is ‘second to none’ The Legal 500 2016

Our specialist team is one of the largest in the country and has been ranked tier one by both Legal 500 and the Chambers legal directory since 2006.

The team provides proactive, strategic advice to a range of property owners, occupiers and funders nationally, working in close partnership with our clients and their other professional advisers, and is particularly adept at dealing with contentious assignments and sublettings and advising in connection with dilapidations settlements.

The team acts for and advises a number of national house builder and developer clients on a full range of property issues that affect the sector, including development and consortium agreements, options, overage disputes, rights of way, rights of light and valuation disputes.

Although a ‘litigation’ team, the vast majority of our claims are settled by negotiation or mediation and only very rarely does a matter proceed to trial. Instead, our aim is always to secure our clients’ commercial objectives in the most efficient way possible. Working with our non contentious colleagues we identify risks and provide advice about avoiding disputes early in negotiations and on a variety of transactions.

Successful outcomes for our clients depend not only on our legal expertise but on the team’s comprehensive understanding of the property industry and our clients’ businesses. We work as part of a team with our clients and their other professional advisers with relationships spanning many years enabling us to be pro-active and flexible in our approach.
