Described as “a very savvy and streetwise litigator” by a leading construction counsel Peter specialises in construction dispute resolution, representing clients in all types of dispute forums both in the UK and overseas. He represents employers, contractors and sub-contractors alike across a wide range of sectors, including power generation and renewables contracts through to road, rail, infrastructure and more traditional building projects.

Peter is dual qualified and prior to becoming a solicitor he worked as a quantity surveyor, having spent eight years working on projects in Asia.  His industry experience makes him uniquely placed to provide clients with “no-nonsense” commercially-focused advice – thereby helping them achieve their goals in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Peter has co-authored “Payment in Construction Contracts – A Practical Guide” published by RICS Books. He is an accredited Adjudicator, as well as being a regular contributor to the legal press, and a respected speaker on construction law.


  • Having worked as a commercial manager for a number of contracting organisations Peter has an affinity in representing contractors. His industry experience means he understands the issues facing contractors and his early involvements means most disputes can be resolved without recourse to formal dispute proceedings. Where proceedings are unavoidable Peter uses his expertise to ensure a successful outcome.
  • Peter expertise in energy and renewable comes from his longstanding  instructions form one of the UK’s leading power generator and he has advised them on various major construction and renewables disputes over the past seven years. More recently he has advised on procurement strategy and risk management on major projects. The in-house lawyer praised his dedication and his ability to work with clients “as though he was part of the in-house team.”
  • Advised major energy clients on both EPC and multi-contracting arrangements for numerous CHP projects and two new build power stations in Nottingham and Pembroke.
  • Advised on a £230m environmental upgrade to a 500MW power station in South Wales including contracts for sea water Flue Gas Desulphurisation (“FGD”), Selective Catalytic Reduction NOxabatement (“SCR”) and co-firing Biomass.
  • Represented nPower in a legal dispute with the contractor for a co-firing biomass project. The dispute involved the output and quality of the dust injected into the burn.
  • Represented turnkey contractor in a dispute with an energy provider for a coppiced willow biomass project.
