Jane is a Partner in the firm and she heads up a team specialising in Debt Recovery and Insolvency.
Jane’s expertise has resulted in her being successful in being appointed to undertake debt recovery government departments such as HM Revenue & Customs and The Insolvency Service as well as national businesses and individuals.
Jane joined Clarke Willmott in 1991 after previously working for The Lord Chancellors Department. Jane is a member of the Civil Court Users Association, the Institute of Credit Management, and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives.
- Provided a product for Managing Agents which facilitated recovery of service charge arrears together with the associated costs. This resulted in instructions being received from Managing Agents in Birmingham, Sheffield and Nottingham.
- Proposals were put forward to change the Insolvency process. The proposals were not in the main helpful to Creditors. Jane was invited to be part of a consultation group considering the proposed reforms to the Insolvency process. This resulted in an individual meeting with the Senior Policy Advisor, and ultimately in the proposed reforms being curtailed.
- Successfully managed a contract for H M Revenue & Customs for a period of five years recovering unpaid VAT, which contract had previously been dealt with by three separate firms. It involved organising attendance at daily bankruptcy hearings at The Royal Courts of Justice and weekly Winding Up hearings at Bristol District Registry. It also involved managing not only the team dealing with the work but various service agents, reconciliation of monies and the provision of relevant Management information.
