TSA – new regulatory framework launched

The new powers for social housing providers have been published. They come into effect on 1 April 2010. There are six core standards with ten principals which underpin the TSA’s approach to regulation.

Following the consultation exercise, the TSA has changed some of its terminology. You must now meet ‘specific expectations’ and the national standards have become ‘TSA standards’ with local standards becoming ‘local offers’.

Your Annual Report will become the focus of demonstrating your compliance with the new regime and the deadline for producing your report has been moved to 1 October. This new system of regulation aims to give further protection to tenants, change the inspection regime and encourage ‘co regulation’.
