Road Safety Week poster competition
Road Safety Week took place between 19 – 25 November.
The annual event promoted by Brake, and charities including Brain Injury Group (BIG) aims to raise awareness of road safety. This years theme was ‘speed‘, as every time we drive faster than the speed limit, or too fast for the road conditions, we increase the risk of a crash – and we increase the chance that someone will be killed or hurt.
Clarke Willmott has asked our people to encourage their kids, nieces, nephews, and community groups to get involved to help promote road safety to school children by taking part in BIG’s colouring competition to design a road safety week poster. Clarke Willmott also offered a first, second and third place prize to our internal entries.
Clarke Willmott are proud members of the Brain Injury Group (BIG) which exists to support individuals and families affected by brain injury, and road traffic accidents are one of the major causes of brain injury. BIG’s mission is to provide anyone affected by brain injury with expert legal, financial and welfare services and this year BIG are running a competition to help raise awareness of road safety amongst children.
At Clarke Willmott we asked our staff to think about the children they know and to encourage them to be creative. We had some fantastic entries and will be sharing the winners on the @PI_MedNegCW X (Twitter) page and their Facebook page over the next few days.
One of our Road Traffic Accident claims experts, Philip Edwards, said:
“I have been supporting the victims of road traffic accidents for all of my career, and the injuries received can often be truly life changing. The impact on the individuals and their families cannot be underestimated. I hear time and time again my clients telling me they just hope that other people don’t have to go through what they have been through.
This is why we support Road Safety Week. Anything which raises awareness of road safety issues and in turn might reduce the number of injuries on our roads is to be applauded. I hope the children who enter our competition will have a lot of fun designing some awesome posters, and at the same time that they think about their own safety and ways to keep safe whilst out and about”
