Martin specialises in child and adolescent traumatic brain injury claims having had extensive experience in the conduct of these complex and difficult matters. Martin is Chairman of the brain injury charity Headway Somerset and also acts as a Court appointed Deputy looking after the financial affairs of clients who are unable to do so for themselves.
He is particularly interested in issues of capacity and the implementation of the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
The Association of Personal Injury Lawyers recently published a paper by Martin providing a comparison of the laws on capacity in England and Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic.
Martin also has a niche practice in occupational health and safety law both in respect of criminal/regulatory matters but also bringing and defending claims arising from exposure to asbestos and in particular mesothelioma.
Martin has been qualified for over 30 years and has been with Clarke Willmott for most of that time.
