We are currently looking for a Tax, Partnership and Management Accountant to join our Finance team until January 2025 to cover a period of Parental Leave for an existing member of the team.

Most of our people choose to work in a hybrid fashion, working from home and attending our offices on occasion. Our offices are in Bristol, Birmingham, Cardiff, London, Manchester, Southampton, and Taunton.
Day to day, you’ll be successful in this role by:
Tax accounting:
You will take a lead role in managing the firms VAT processes, including being the main contact for VAT queries relating to overseas clients and the VAT treatment of disbursements, alongside the Financial Controller. In addition, you will take responsibility for producing the firms quarterly VAT return for signoff by the Financial Controller and making the monthly VAT payments to HSBC.
Partnership Accounting:
This will include accounting and reporting of partner profit, tax reserves and all payments relating to partners. In addition, there is a wider LLP tax element to this role as you will be involved in the LLP tax return.
This role will ensure our members’ profit and tax is accurately calculated and accounted for. You will liaise with partners across the firm and be the first point of contact for their queries. You will also be the first point of contact with our external tax advisers, ensuring that we provide and receive the information and calculations we need to meet remuneration and tax deadlines throughout the year. You will also liaise with the bank, administering partner loans.
Management Accounting:
This will include supporting the Finance Manager in the production of the monthly Management Accounts for the Business Support Teams, including supporting on queries from the Operational Heads. In addition, you will be a key player in the annual budget and quarterly forecasting processes for the Business Support Teams.
Production of the quarterly VAT return for signoff by the Financial Controller, including ensuing compliance with ‘Making Tax Digital’ legislation
Responsible for taking the lead on responding to VAT queries and working with tax advisors on VAT queries / advice where necessary
LLP Tax Return:
Take the lead on managing and delivering the accurate production of the LLP’s tax return from start to finish:
Initially collating information for the LLP tax return and analysing the information in detail to ensure expenditure is categorised correctly and accurately, providing it to our tax advisors and being the main point of contact for the day-to-day work on the return.
Coordinating the internal review and sign-off of the LLP tax return, including the analysis of disallowable expenditure, detailed review of the tax computation and the profit allocation schedules and of course the tax return itself, ensuring consistency between all these schedules and accuracy throughout.
Member Tax Reserves, Partner Statements and Payments:
First port of call for all Member enquiries.
Assisting the Financial Controller with preparing detailed tax reserving calculations for the Members which requires complex detailed calculations and excellent organisational skills.
Responsible for preparing the Member Statements on an annual basis showing current account and tax reserve balances and movements in the period.
Responsible for the calculation and maintenance of Member’s payments including drawings, profit distributions and other deductions, ensuring postings are accurately made in the general ledger.
Calculation and preparation of leaver statements – and subsequent payment of Member leaver payments.
Calculation of new Member drawing levels on an annual and ad hoc basis.
Maintenance of Member loan capital amounts, ensuring that sufficient capital is held by all Members and liaising with the bank where additional capital is required for new or existing Members; or capital needs to be repaid for Member leavers; and
Ownership of the Members Interest balance sheet reconciliation.
This role is right for you if:
- You an experienced Management Accountant, you may be ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified or qualified by experience.
- Experience with VAT returns and Management Accounts is essential.
- Experience with Partnership Accounting/Tax is desirable but not essential.
- Confidence to take responsibility for the preparation of the Member statements and Member administration.
- We are open on industry background but candidates coming from a Legal or Professional Services background will be preferred.

This is a hybrid role in our brand-new Bristol office, located in the heart of the city close to local transport links, restaurants and shops. Our team work locally and enjoy getting together 1 day per week in the office but if you love the space like we do, come in as often as you like.
