Solicitor – Intellectual Property – Southampton or Manchester
This role is for a mid-level IP Solicitor or Associate to undertake a wide range of high quality contentious and non-contentious intellectual property work.
Location: Southampton or Manchester
Hours: Full time
Vacancy Reference: 381-LSN
Our intellectual property team is based across our Southampton and Manchester offices. The team is well-established and a highly-regarded practice that counts many household names and luxury international brands as key clients.
As part of the team in Southampton or Manchester, you will both assist senior lawyers with their workload and run your own case load under supervision. The role is fast paced and will vary day to day, with its focus predominantly on contentious work, though there will be some non-contentious work.
Typical duties will include dealing with trade mark prosecution matters and IP infringement proceedings. You will combine assisting fee earners with managing your own case load under supervision.
The role offers exceptional quality work which is matched by only a few other firms outside London. Good training is offered on the job and during weekly Know How sessions, and obtaining further postgraduate qualifications encouraged. Former employees have progressed to become senior solicitors and trade mark attorneys with Clarke Willmott and in international beverage, fashion and finance companies.
It is an integral part of this role that you comply with information security and all firm policies and procedures.
You will ideally be a qualified solicitor with around two years or more of post qualification experience in a specialist IP team. You will already have a good technical grounding in intellectual property law through practice and/or post-graduate study.
Our clients value the tailored and personal service they receive from us and maintaining this level of service will be important to you. You should also be keen to get involved in business and practice development activities within the team as a whole.
You will need a strong intellect to succeed in this role, so we will be looking for a corresponding level of academic achievement. You will also need to show us that you have initiative, drive and great organisational skills. The work requires self-motivation and the ability to work to demanding deadlines.
Finally, legal practice is about people and this is very much a team orientated role. You will relish helping others and be eager to learn. We expect you to be someone who takes pride in your work and who will provide a first class service to clients and senior solicitors alike, anticipating their needs in advance wherever possible, and paying meticulous attention to detail in all of your work.
