Solicitor – Employment – Bristol
An exciting opportunity for a Solicitor to join our Employment and HR team based in the Bristol office.
Hours: Full time
Vacancy Reference: 456-LBL
This role will see you joining our Bristol Employment and HR team where you will be supporting and working alongside other Employment Partners and Solicitors.
You will be involved in a broad mix of contentious and non-contentious work primarily supporting our corporate clients. It will vary, but we would expect your time will be spent split between disputes and general advisory work with some corporate support work from time to time.
The contentious caseload can be complex with high value claims and, as such, you will have the opportunity to gain expertise on technically and strategically challenging matters.
You will have a significant influence on how you want your experience and expertise to develop and you will be strongly encouraged and supported to get involved in business development work, taking an active role in seminars and networking events in addition to drafting insightful guidance and articles.
You will also benefit from the support and resources of the larger national team.
We want to invest in your career, and help you to become a recognised expert in your own right, so you will have plenty of opportunity for one-to-one development and encouragement from the wider team. We will ensure that you are involved in a high level of client contact and responsibility.
The national team is headed by Kevin Jones with support from six other Partners. In addition to the Bristol office it operates from Taunton, Manchester, Southampton and Birmingham, providing a full range of services primarily to our corporate clients.
It is an integral part of this role that you comply with information security and all firm policies and procedures.
This is a role for an ambitious self-starter looking for an opportunity to stretch and build a personal reputation in the South West. You will be an excellent team player capable of working with our solicitors in providing commercial solutions to our clients.
While ideally we expect you to have built some quality employment experience over at least 2 years PQE, we are interested more in your potential than your length of your experience. If you have less than this but can show a real talent for employment work and a history of delivering exceptional client service, we would still like to hear from you.
What you will certainly have, is a mix of contentious (respondent) and non-contentious experience for a range of clients including exposure to senior managers at medium to large corporates. You will have been involved in a range of tribunal claims at all stages and you will have developed strong drafting skills gained, for example, on policy and handbook drafting and settlement agreements. Whether acting for Claimants or Respondents you will be able to demonstrate that you are commercially astute with a pragmatic, entirely client focussed approach.
