Solicitor / Associate – Construction
A non-contentious construction lawyer role in a dynamic, friendly and highly supportive team, with plenty of client contact and on-going training.
Role: Solicitor / Associate
Location: Birmingham, Bristol, London, Southampton, or Taunton
Hours: Full Time
Vacancy Reference: 604-LVS
We are looking for a non-contentious construction lawyer to join our national Construction team. The team continues to act for a wide range of clients on a varied portfolio of projects spanning sectors including retail, energy and finance. This is an opportunity to get involved in high quality, complex work, building a really firm foundation in construction and engineering contracts and to gain valuable experience.
You will be based in a supportive and friendly team, and be able to work closely with our partners and other lawyers within the team and beyond, giving you a more rounded perspective. You will be involved in a variety of work and will have the opportunity to build your expertise in a number of key sectors. You will be joining a team with a genuinely national approach, so although you will have a “base” location, you will have the opportunity to work with the full wider non-contentious construction team.
We want to invest in your career and help you to become a recognised expert in your own right, so you will have plenty of one-to-one development and encouragement from your supervising partner and the wider team. We will ensure that you get a good level of client contact and early responsibility.
We’ll expect you to be involved in business development and you will be encouraged to participate in networking and marketing activities. We are highly sector and client focussed, so spending time in the business community and getting to know and understand the clients you support will be part and parcel of your general role at Clarke Willmott.
It is an integral part of this role that you comply with information security and all firm policies and procedures.
We are looking for someone with the potential to become a big name in construction – so you will demonstrate talent, ambition and a real interest in non-contentious construction work. We expect you to have built up enough experience to be able to manage some work with minimal supervision, probably gained over and up to two years post qualification in a specialist construction team, but if you have several years more experience you might join us as an Associate.
You will want to work hard, but we don’t expect you to work late every night. Yes, there are deadlines to meet and occasional late nights, but we support flexibility and don’t believe that long hours are healthy or produce great client service. This is an environment with a sensible balance between challenging work and a life beyond it.
