Senior Associate – Immigration – Birmingham, Bristol, Southampton, Manchester or Taunton
We are seeking an established Immigration Senior Associate to join our national Employment team, ideally being based from our Birmingham office in due course, subject to COVID-19 restrictions.
Role: Senior Associate
Location: Birmingham, Bristol, Southampton, Manchester or Taunton
Hours: Full Time
Vacancy Reference: 620-LBM
We require a senior business immigration practitioner to work within the firm’s wider national employment practice – advising on all business immigration matters (e.g. Sponsor Licensing, Points-Based System applications, Sole Representative of Overseas Business applications, etc.) in addition to providing immigration support to the firm’s high-net worth private clients where required (for example, Partner of British citizen applications, indefinite leave to remain applications, Tier 1 (Investor) applications, and advising on immigration appeals).
You will have a proven track record and reputation as an experienced, pragmatic, and commercial business immigration practitioner. You will be required to supervise junior fee earners/paralegals, and will be charged with building the firm’s business immigration practice – operating within a top tier firm with established international connections, including an in-house China Counsellor and China Desk.
It is an integral part of this role that you comply with information security and all firm policies and procedures.
You should be proactive and flexible in working both individually and as part of a team, with strong technical knowledge and the capability to supervise junior support members across different locations. You must be an experienced business immigration practitioner and be able to prioritise a number of different projects effectively across a wide range of business sectors. You must be technically excellent but equally important, commercially aware with strong business development skills – leading seminars, client training, and business development presentations on business immigration matters (such as developments in the Points-Based System and Brexit considerations for commercial employers).
Communication will be one of your strong points, both written and oral, and you will be enthusiastic about delivering excellent quality service to your clients. You will be someone who is confident to assume conduct of files across a wide range of matters, preferably with an established reputation and client following.
We expect you to be able to use your initiative, and be a forward-planner, anticipating your clients’ needs in advance wherever possible.
