Our 3-Partner IP team is rated as a leading practice in Chambers and Partners and the Legal 500. We are members of both the Anti-Counterfeiting Group (ACG) and the European Communities Trade Mark Association (ECTA).
As part of the team, you will assist the lawyers with their workload. The role is fast paced and workload will vary day to day.
You will be:
- Assisting Fee Earners with IP litigation, specifically anti-counterfeiting work and managing own cases
- Carrying out under the supervision of Fee Earners trademark filing and prosecution work, including carrying out availability and clearance searches and assisting Fee Earners with managing trade mark portfolios for client.
- Liaising with clients
- Legal research
- Document preparation
The IP team also has a wide IT expertise, so work will include issues relating to GDPR and drafting and analysing software licences. We also have a growing franchising practice.
This role will allow you to work flexibly, splitting your week between your home working environment and either our Manchester or Southampton office.
It is an integral part of this role that you comply with information security and all firm policies and procedures.
As a law or GDL graduate, you will already have a good technical grounding in the law and the basics of the litigation process. Whether or not you have already gained some paralegal experience, you’ll be keen to develop your legal career by gaining expertise in IP work.
You’ll need a strong intellect to succeed in this role, so we will be looking for a corresponding level of academic achievement. You’ll also need to show us that you have initiative, drive and great organisational skills. The work requires self-motivation and the ability to work to demanding deadlines.
You will relish helping others and be eager to learn. We expect you to be someone who takes pride in your work and who will provide a first–class support service to your Fee Earners, anticipating their needs in advance wherever possible, and paying meticulous attention to detail in all of your work.
Finally, legal practice is about people and this is very much a team orientated role.
