This is a fee-earning and administrative position, supporting the Partner and Solicitor in the Employment and HR Team.

Supporting the Southampton Employment and HR team, this is an opportunity to build experience assisting the team in their day to day work.
You will work with the Southampton Employment and HR team on a range of contentious and non-contentious work for both commercial/corporate clients, as well as (generally senior level) individuals.
You may be involved in preparing for Employment Tribunal cases, collating document bundles, drafting witness statements and liaising with counsel and clients, as appropriate.
Although this role is a fee-earning role, there is also an administrative aspect in providing high quality and pro-active support to the Employment and HR team, managing diaries, submitting expenses, and enabling the team to work as efficiently as possible. Some of these tasks may include assisting with business development activities including pitches, proposals, tenders, preparing and collating all materials for seminars.
You will be a law or GDL graduate with a strong level of academic achievement, and a keen interest in progressing a career in employment law or HR practice. You may also have completed the LPC.
Ideally you should have a basic knowledge of employment law practice and procedure, attained through your legal studies or recent work experience.
You should be proactive and flexible in working both individually and as part of a team, and be able to prioritise a number of different tasks effectively.
Communication will be one of your strong points, both written and oral, and you will be passionate about delivering excellent quality service to our clients.
We expect you to be able to use your initiative, and be a forward-planner, anticipating our lawyers’ and clients’ needs in advance wherever possible.
You will have excellent spelling and good grammar, be proficient with the usual Microsoft packages, including Word, and be comfortable with learning new databases and other software packages.
