Paralegal – Debt Recovery – Taunton
An opportunity to begin/continue a legal career in a national law firm, in our Debt Recovery team. Dealing with issuing court proceedings and running your own caseload of litigated cases through to conclusion.
Hours: Full Time
Vacancy Reference: 795-PTN
Our highly regarded Debt Recovery team is based only in our Taunton office, but it provides a national service for Government Departments, Local Authorities, insurance companies, managing agents, businesses and individuals.
We are a well-regarded team with a strong reputation, achieving a tier 1 ranking in the Legal 500. Operating for over 25 years, we are led by two Partners and a Team Manager.
The team specialises in all aspects of debt recovery from debts pursued before court proceedings are issued through to court judgments, insolvency and enforcement proceedings. The team is divided into different ‘mini’ teams that work on specific contracts for our clients, allowing them to become experts in that area.
We deal with thousands of debtors and use an advanced case management system (CMS) to monitor the work and progress cases efficiently and effectively. It means that the team works together on shared files and help each other to get the best job done.
You will receive on the job training for the contract you will be working on and our CMS, allowing you to learn from a high-performing team and progress your career in our firm.
We are looking to appoint someone, who ideally has previous debt recovery experience. The role will be varied. You will be dealing with one of our major insurance clients, primarily on the telephone, issuing court proceedings, taking enforcement action and maintaining repayment plans using our specific case management system.
You will be responsible for maintaining a caseload, prioritising tasks, developing and maintaining client relationships and undertaking general administrative tasks.
You will gain a good grounding in most aspects of debt recovery and it is an excellent place to start a legal career and gain experience working in a legal environment.
It is a fast-paced role and you will need to juggle many priorities. You will need to be flexible to be an effective team player but you will also get support and training from your colleagues and manager in a relaxed but professional and hard-working team.
It is an integral part of this role that you comply with information security and all firm policies and procedures.
