Clarke Willmott’s Serious Injury and Clinical Negligence teams praised in independent guide
Chambers & Partners recognises expertise of lawyers
The 2016 Chambers & Partners UK Guide has just been published. This independent guide to law firms covers 70 specialist areas of law, and has heaped praise on the expert lawyers in the Serious Injury and Clinical Negligence teams at Clarke Willmott in Bristol, Taunton and Birmingham. Based on rigorous research, including interviews with thousands of clients, the guide is seen as authoritative in demonstrating which lawyers are experts and leaders in their field.
Both the Serious Injury and Clinical Negligence teams are celebrating today after receiving noteworthy recognition in the guide, which reflects the breadth of experience and expertise they have in representing seriously injured clients and the victims of medical negligence.
The department is lead by Martin Pettingell who is ranked in the guide at Band 1 for Claimant Personal Injury lawyers in Bristol. The guide confirms that Martin is “noted for his ability to grasp complex cases across multiple jurisdictions”. Also, Stephen Trump receives praise in the Bristol section of the guide and “is highly regarded for his ability to act on life changing injuries, including severe child and adult brain injuries”
The firm’s expertise in Clinical Negligence in Bristol is recognised by a prestigious high ranking, and lead Partner Kerry Fifield is noted for her specialisation “in an array of birth injury claims as well as orthopaedic claims”. The firm added to their undoubted strength in this field during the last year by the recruitment of Marguarita Tyne as a partner, the guide saying of her that she is “excellent, very thorough and very client focused”. One client interviewed by the guide is quoted as saying “if I had a family member who needed help, I would always recommend Marguarita”.
Success in the South West continues with excellent results from the firm’s Taunton office. The serious injury team is lead there by the impressive Lee Hart who is said to excel in handling brain and spinal injury claims and “is calm, clever and tactically astute”. Fellow partner Chris Thorne handles both serious injury and clinical negligence cases, and the guide says of him that he is a “thoroughly impressive senior solicitor with amazing powers of persuasion and excellent judgement”. Chris and the firm are ranked amongst the best Clinical Negligence lawyers in Somerset.
In Birmingham, the serious injury team’s reputation continues to grow. Led in the Midlands by partner Philip Edwards, he is recognised as one of only two lawyers to achieve band 1 status for Birmingham and the surrounding area and interviewees described him as “tenacious and an excellent lawyer” with sources noting his expertise in brain injury and PTSD work. Philip is also highly regarded for his levels of client care and excellent communication skills. The Birmingham team is going to build on this success in the coming year by increasing their clinical negligence expertise.
