Clarke Willmott supports local children’s hospital
The Big Bandage 2014
Lawyers and staff from the Birmingham Office of Clarke Willmott have today got bandaged, plastered and generally wrapped up in support of “Big Bandage 2014” and in the process have raised vital funds for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Birmingham Children’s Hospital estimates that 1 in 8 children in the West Midlands will visit them this year. Philip Edwards, a Partner in the Serious Injury team at Clarke Willmott said:-
“When we heard about the appeal, we realised that almost all of us in the office either had children who had received treatment at the hospital, or knew someone who had. Thinking about things like that made us realise we must support this wonderful hospital on our doorstep. Twenty five of our lawyers and staff donned bandages and plasters and we hope to have played a small part in supporting the Big Bandage Appeal”
Last year the appeal raised £42,000 and organisers hope to do even better this year. Money raised last year went towards buying new monitors for the High Dependency Unit, buying magazine subscriptions so patients had something up to date to read, putting on movie nights for children at the hospital and buying a range of sensory equipment for youngsters to use.
This year the appeal hopes to make a substantial contribution to making the dream of having a world class children’s cancer centre in Birmingham a reality. The Hospital has already raised £3.5m and only has another £500,000 to go to reach their target of £4m.
