how we helped our clients

Here are some case studies that illustrate the best examples of what we have achieved for our clients:

Relevant Legislation Compliance Advice

We advised an SME on compliance with relevant legislation including drafting a discrete health and safety manual including a complete package of systems for the management of risk.

Employer's liability claims

We provide advice directly to the company both in relation to the claims as and when they arise but also in relation to the management of risk generally.

We acted on behalf of a major meat processing company in relation to employer’s liability claims.

Improvement notice

We represented a company in relation to the service of an improvement notice and a prosecution arising from an alleged failure to comply. The cause of the problem was the management of common areas at an industrial estate where the individual business tenants were already in litigation between themselves and the landlord’s agent was unhelpful. Work involved an appearance before Magistrates and entering a plea in mitigation to ensure that penalty was kept to a minimum and payment made by instalments. Representation included application of sentencing principles set out by the Court of Appeal in R v Howe and Son.

Construction companies

We have acted for major construction companies in advising on:

  • Directors’ liability following publication of the HSE guidance and on the proposals for amending the law on Corporate manslaughter
  • Allegations of breach of a ‘noise’ order
  • Liabilities arising from repairing a fractured gas main on a construction site
  • The preparation of a management plan for the control of asbestos
  • Representing a company prosecuted following a fall from scaffolding.
