how we helped our clients

Here are some case studies that illustrate the best examples of what we have achieved for our clients:

Bespoke training programme

We have recently put in place for a national plc a bespoke training programme covering the hiring process as well as dealing with difficult HR issues such as poor attendance and underperformance. This training programme gave their managers the skills as well as confidence to properly deal with these issues. The benefit to the company was a better, more refined hiring programme increasing the prospects of better hirers and decreasing the prospect of any litigation. The aim of all our training programmes is to equip managers with the confidence and skill set to deal with the day to day HR and employment law issues that face them.

Poor performance

We acted on behalf of a national construction plc in exiting a senior executive as a result of both poor performance and misconduct. The client, working closely with us, took the decision that they did not want to exit the executive with the payment of “hush money” and therefore implemented a full investigation and disciplinary process culminating with a disciplinary hearing. The issues were complicated and sensitive but the final exit was achieved at no cost to the company.

Sexual harrassment allegations

Acting on behalf of a leading FE college in successfully defending particularly difficult sexual harassment allegations, potential compensation if unsuccessful was in excess of £100,000. Following a five-day hearing, the case was successfully defended by our in-house advocacy unit, with a cost order made against the claimant. At the outset, and based upon our advice, the employer decided to defend the allegation, rather than look to buy off the claim with a compensation offer.

Redundancy programmes

Acted on behalf of a leading SW holiday park in advising them on the redundancy of a senior manager. The manager had been employed for a number of years and occupied a senior role. The business, working with us in a costs reduction exercise, went through a reorganisation programme that resulted in the successful redundancy of the manager; no Employment Tribunal claim was brought.
