how we helped our clients

Here are some case studies that illustrate the best examples of what we have achieved for our clients:

Working with a 6th Form College on their development

In 2005 a team including employment and regeneration lawyers were appointed in the £60million redevelopment of a sixth form college. The work includes the current site disposal, the colleges relocation and the acquisition of a new site and building on it to provide a new campus for staff and students. The building work will begin in 2007 and run for several years. Reported in the local press, the college is second largest employer in the county and we are long standing advisers to the college in relation to HR and employment matters which includes litigation over staff pension schemes and their relocation to a new site.

Helping a University to recover patent infringement costs

We acted for a university as it sought to recover sums due under a patent licence; advising generally in relation to contractual claims and specifically in relation to actions for breach of contract, defamation, copyright and breach of confidence.

Representing a local authority to secure a specialist further education college

Clarke Willmott work with developers and local authorities to develop schools as part of a new infrastructure.

The team works for various regional branches of a national developer together with their joint development partners in relation to the construction of 5 schools for several different county councils. We dealt with both detailed development agreements to be put in place between the councils and the developers, and the related construction contracts to be entered into by our clients with the relevant contractors and consultants.
