planning & environmental

We advise farmers, rural landowners and agribusinesses in relation to compliance with the increasingly complex laws relating to environmental protection and regulatory law on strict liability criminal offences. Our specialists personally represent clients in the Magistrates' Courts and as we have higher rights of audience in the Crown Courts defending prosecutions from regulatory bodies and the Crown Prosecution Service and representing clients at public inquiries.

We are regularly instructed on:-

  • pollution incidents and Agricultural Waste Management Regulations;
  • health and safety prosecutions;
  • animal welfare legislation including market offences, movement licences and ear tags;
  • road traffic offences
  • public rights of way including diversions, upgrading of existing rights, obstructions and public inquiries on creation of new public rights.
  • commons and village green inquiries.
  • prosecutions relating to the sale and manufacture of food.
