"an unashamedly client-facing law firm"
"most ambitious of the next generation of national firms"

Legal disputes cannot always be avoided. Sometimes there are issues that need to be pursued though the Courts, on other occasions our clients find themselves facing claims from third parties.

We have a team that is experienced in advising private clients on their disputes. Our private clients tell us that they want us to provide a service tailored to their particular needs, and we give this, by focusing on:

  • Providing prompt, realistic and practical advice, both on the legal aspects of disputes and the tactical approaches that may be taken to deal with them.
  • Taking into account the impact of the dispute upon the individual and their broader personal and business interests.
  • Being clear as to the risks (whether financial or otherwise) faced in any particular situation.
  • Having a transparent approach to costs and adopting the latest innovations to reduce or spread the burden of costs.
  • Being alive to and comfortable with the methods used to deal with disputes, including alternative dispute resolution processes and formal Court litigation, and the most appropriate uses for those differing methods.

We cover the whole range of disputes that private clients may experience. This includes disputes relating to property and other assets, business-related disputes, negligence claims and personal disputes.

We are rare in having a specialist team that deals with regulatory disputes, where a private client is in dispute with one of the regulatory arms of the government.

We also have a particular expertise and experience in dealing with disputes involving trusts (both domestic and off-shore) and claims relating to probate. The combination of our familiarity with the law and experience of its application in practice, when combined with the way in which we approach all of the matters where we are working for private clients, results in a highly effective service to our clients who are having to deal with disputes that can be extremely complicated, with a great deal at stake.
